Recently, the Continental Group provided a belt conveyor system to Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, to help it achieve low frictional resistance and clean and environmentally friendly coal output. The closed conveying system not only reduces the coal dust emission in the Yanzi coal mining area, but also has the characteristics of fire prevention, small rolling friction, energy saving and high efficiency. The system is 8.1 kilometers long and is one of the longest tubular conveyor belts currently in use in China.
In Yangquan, Continental's belt conveyors are capable of transporting coal at a speed of 4 m/s (equivalent to 14.4 km/h), which is about three times the speed of the walk and is at the same speed as the bicycle. The advantages of this conveyor system are not only reflected in the conveying speed, but also in energy efficiency. In order to improve energy efficiency, Continental has developed a solution: using a special rubber compound material to reduce the rolling friction of the conveyor belt, can significantly reduce power consumption.
